Dr. Caesar Kellum

“I learned of the DEL program from a friend of a friend, who recommended I look into the book, The Formation of Scholars: Rethinking Doctoral Education for the Twenty-First Century. Once I learned of the scholar-practitionership perspective of the DEL program towards leadership based upon Dr. Walker’s research, I knew this was worth exploring further; and I think my wife put crazy pills in my vitamin bottle, because I thought I was done with school.”

Caesar completed the degree in December 2021. Although some Covid-19 restrictions were still in place, the graduation ceremony accommodated those who wanted to walk in person or participate virtually. Caesar chose to celebrate at home.

“As my wife and I were about to travel to WV, I realized I was flying away from friends and family that lift me up- leaving to celebrate did not feel right. Jenny Mae Pridemore, a friend/superstar/DEL coordinator mailed my regalia, and we had a wonderful ceremony here at home with family and friends. Seeing my name up on the virtual graduation screen was perfect and provided a personal opportunity to thank everyone for their love and support.”

DEL graduates pursue the degree for a variety of reasons and the benefits apply to them personally. “As a scholar-practitioner of executive leadership, I help individuals, teams, and organizations develop a ‘Leadspace’ perspective that empower leaders to action dynamic capabilities. Leadership in Defense Support of Civil Authorities – A Qualitative Exploratory Study reveals an interdisciplinary theory of leadership creating a compass for future leaders to thrive in any environment. I started Kinetic Leadership Consulting & Services, LLC based upon my leadership model developed during the DEL program and will demonstrate the study’s impact of new leadership awareness towards application in today’s organizations.”

The following is a LinkedIn post from Caesar that beautifully expresses his gratitude for this opportunity. “Words fail to fully express my gratitude to everyone at DEL for their dedication and support these last few years. To the finest cohort, professors, and dissertation committee, you exemplify the creation of an authentic learning environment cultivated by treating everyone with dignity and respect. Proud to be a graduate of UC’s Doctorate of Executive Leadership!
Thank you Dr. Barnette, Dr. Walker, Dr. Wylie, Dr. Lathan, Dr. Denny, Dr. Harvey, Dr. Dugan, Dr. Byrum, & Dr. Kipfer.”
