Optional Practical Training Extension for STEM Students (STEM OPT)

The STEM-designated OPT program offers international students with F-1 visas the chance to extend their training and career development in the U.S. The program provides a one-time 24-month extension to the initial 12-month OPT period. Students can continue working in their field in the U.S., building valuable experience and enhancing their career options.

UC offers a range of STEM-designated programs that meet the criteria of the U.S. government at the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree levels. These programs help students meet the demand for STEM skills while providing them with an extended stay to help them pursue their career and personal goals.
