We know that choosing a school is a big step, both for you and for your family. We are pleased that you have decided to apply for admission to the University of Charleston. We know you will love being a Golden Eagle.
The University of Charleston reviews completed applications on a continuous or rolling basis – this means there isn’t a specific application deadline, and applications are considered – and applicants informed of admission – on a first-come, first served basis.
The Office of Admissions is available to help you through every step of the application process and we encourage you to contact us should you need any help along the way.
In order to complete your application for undergraduate admission, you will need to submit the following information:
Fee – All applications must include a $25, nonrefundable application fee. You may contact the Office of Admissions if you need financial assistance in paying the application fee.
Transcript –Students applying as freshmen may receive a preliminary admissions decision based on a self-reported high school GPA. It is the student’s responsibility to report their cumulative GPA accurately. Any admissions decision or scholarship offer may be revised or revoked if an inaccurate GPA is submitted. Students must submit official high school transcripts for full admission and finalization of scholarship offers.
Standardized Test Scores – The University of Charleston is now test blind in freshman and transfer admission processes. Students do not need to submit ACT or SAT scores for general admission, scholarship, or course placement purposes. Certain degree programs, including nursing and education, require specialized test scores (TEAS and PRAXIS) for admission. Additionally, international students for whom English is a second language must submit test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo) to demonstrate English proficiency.
Other Important Steps
Admissions Decision – UC reviews applications on a rolling admissions basis with the exception of Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Radiologic Technology. We strive to process applications within 72 hours of file completion but may take longer during times of high application volume. You will receive an official letter from the Admissions Office with your admissions decision and next steps.
FAFSA – All students are required to submit the FAFSA to receive their financial aid package. The FAFSA can be completed as early as October 1 prior to your term of enrollment at fafsa.ed.gov.
Enrollment Deposit– Once you decide that UC is the place for you, your first step is to pay your enrollment deposit. The deposit reserves your spot in our incoming class and is applied to your first semester charges. The deposit is non-refundable.
Housing Application -All freshmen and sophomore students are required to live on campus unless granted an exemption by the Office of Residence Life. Housing applications/exemption requests will be available each spring for the coming fall semester. All students are required to submit proof of immunization prior to on-campus enrollment.
Registration -Course registration for your first semester takes place as part of our new student orientation process. Watch your inbox for information about orientation registration!
