Types of Financial Aid
To help you make your UC education as affordable as possible, there are several options.
Types of Financial Aid
Scholarships
- UC awards scholarships each year
- Scholarships are considered gift aid and generally do not require repayment
- Awards are based on attributes such as academic achievement, service and talent
- Contact the admissions department to find out how you can qualify
Federal Grant Programs
- Grants are need based and do not require repayment
- Federal and state grants are determined by eligibility for need based aid
Federal Nursing Loan
- Enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree nursing program
Loans
- Student loans must be repaid
- Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan for undergraduate students is available to help parents meet educational costs
- Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan for graduate students is available to help graduate students meet educational cost. This loan is based on a credit check.
- Private alternative educational loans are available from private lenders for students whose cost of attendance has not been met with other financial aid
WV State Grant and Scholarship Programs
- State financial aid assistance for WV residents
Work Study
- UC employs students that qualify for federal work-study on and off campus throughout the year
