Preparing for UC
Helpful information for your journey as a Golden Eagle
Studying in the US is a big step – and an exciting adventure. Here are some things to keep in mind as you prepare for life at UC and the US.
The University of Charleston is located in West Virginia’s state capitol. The campus is directly across the river from the State Capitol Complex, and a short distance from downtown Charleston.
There is plenty to do in Charleston and in West Virginia itself. For outdoor sports lovers, there is biking, hiking, skiing, white water rafting and more close by. If you love the arts, Charleston offers many opportunities for concerts, museums and art galleries, cultural events, international films, movies and more.
Keep in mind that Charleston has four seasons, so it gets chilly in the late fall, and cold in the winter. During the winter and early spring, there are many chances for snowy weather.
Please remember that our Office of International Programs is here to help you make the transition, and to help you with any problems or concerns. We will do our best to make you feel at home here.
