Residence Halls are great places to meet new people and form lifelong friendships. There are many ways for you to get involved within your residential community. Whether by joining one of several organizations on campus, hall-sponsored programs and activities, or participating in community service projects, you’ll have many opportunities to become actively engaged in the residential experience.

Residence Life Staff

The Residence Life staff is responsible for working with residents to promote a sense of community and to foster the development of meaningful relationships. A Resident Director (RD) oversees the daily operations and well-being of each hall. RDs and their staff of student Resident Assistants (RAs) coordinate programs and activities, serve as a resource for residents, and enforce student expectations and accountability standards when necessary.

Resident Assistant (RA)

A Resident Assistant (RA) is assigned to each section of the residence hall. RAs are talented and motivated student leaders who are selected to assist students with various problems and concerns. RAs serve a vital role in the development of the community.

Resident Director (RD)

The RD is a live-in professional staff person who is responsible for the total operation of the residence hall. Each RD promotes educational and social programming, serves as a personal and University resource to the students, and supervises the student staff members and desk assistants. Each RD also has a collateral position that he/she is responsible for which could include: dorm wars, intramural program, residence hall association advisor, coordinator of student life shuttle service, residence life newsletter, and the student life workshop series.
