Position Summary:

The Communication Specialist is responsible for providing prompt, courteous, and accurate information to inquiring students, employees, and guests.  The position serves as the liaison between those seeking assistance and the solutions team.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsible for greeting, accommodating, and accurately directing students, employees, and guests who call, email, or visit student solutions. The position also provides support to administrative projects and overflow work within the department.  This includes, but is not limited to, the following functions:

  • Answer incoming departmental calls or emails and provide either an accurate resolution or confirmation that the request has been received.
  • Greet and warmly transfer students, employees, and guests as necessary to the appropriate resources or departments.
  • Open, process, and correspond to internal and external mail addressed to the department.
  • Perform administrative and clerical office support activities.
  • Process approved registrations and add/drop forms as necessary.
  • Process official transcript requests.
  • Process approved degree verifications.
  • Process approved changes to student records.
  • Assist with Check-In activities at the start of each new semester.
  • Assist with commencement activities as assigned.
  • Aid and support to solutions staff as assigned.
  • Produce University ID cards for students and employees.
  • Place Student Solutions service requests with other campus departments as needed.
  • Complete inventory reviews and order departmental supplies as needed.
  • Complete check requests and purchase orders for the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Some College Preferred
  • Administrative/clerical support experience minimum 3 years
  • Customer Service experience
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Possess good listening skills and able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information; prioritize and organize effectively.
  • Microsoft Office product experience (Word, Excel, Teams, MS Forms).
