Career and Academic Services Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Career/Academic Services Coordinator supports student success by integrating career planning into academic advising and helping students develop career pathways aligned with their educational and professional goals. This role plays a key part in preparing students for meaningful employment and lifelong career development.

The position is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and therefore contingent on the renewal of the award. Although the position is paid with federal funds, the individual will be governed by University of Charleston policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage career development platforms.
  • Assist students in earning industry-recognized certificates and preparing for employment through resume reviews, mock interviews, and job search strategies.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate career planning into academic curriculum and classroom experiences.
  • Monitor student engagement and satisfaction with career services, using data to inform continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to institutional evaluation and reporting efforts related to career readiness and student outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in career counseling, education, or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in career services, academic advising, or a related area in higher education.
  • Familiarity with career development tools and platforms.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • May work in conjunction with the GRASP program.
