Assistant or Associate Professor of Business

The University of Charleston School of Business & Leadership seeks candidates for Assistant/Associate Professor of Business to begin August 2020 to support anticipated growth in new undergraduate business majors with the possibility of teaching in our MBA program. Our undergraduate business programs serve over 300 students, including majors in Digital Marketing, Sport Business, Sport Analytics, Sport Media, Entrepreneurship, Management, Business Analytics, Financial Planning, and Accounting. Our MBA program offers both Charleston cohorts and a fully online option with a 12-16 month completion time and concentrations in Management, Healthcare Management, and Business Analytics. Our school is a member and candidate for specialized accreditation by the Accreditation Council of Business Schools & Programs.

The successful candidate will teach in-seat and online undergraduate business courses in one or more of our undergraduate business majors depending upon doctoral qualifications and enrollment demand. The position is contingent upon final budget approval.

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual with demonstrated excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, a record of applied scholarship, ability to engage students in their professional and career preparation, and active engagement in service to the university, school, and community. The position is contingent upon final budget approval.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Candidate must have relevant academic and professional background for area of teaching
  • Ideal candidates will have experience in college-level teaching both in-seat and online, and/or organizational training, and hold a doctorate in a business discipline with 18+ hours of doctoral coursework in area of teaching
  • Substantial industry experience in business preferred
  • Preference will be given to candidates who also possess an MBA or M.S. in another business-related field and have earned professional certifications
  • Preference will also be given to candidates with experience in student academic advising, serving as faculty advisor to student organizations, recruiting, curriculum development, strategic planning, specialized business accreditation, and academic administration
  • Candidates should have pertinent experience in utilizing appropriate technology in course development and delivery
  • Proven effectiveness in developing and teaching hybrid and online courses is also desirable.
