Adjunct Photography Instructor

The Department of Humanities at the University of Charleston invites applications to join our team as an Adjunct Photography Instructor for an online 7-week course offered twice a semester focusing on enhancing photography skills. The course emphasizes the creative aspects of photography, such as composition, lighting, perspective, and portraits.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in fine arts with a focus on photography or commensurate professional experience
- Familiarity with smart devices and their photographic capabilities
Responsibilities:
- Engage and inform the students about the weekly lessons to help students’ understanding of photography principles
- Reinforce weekly assignments that challenge students to apply concepts learned in the course
- Hold weekly class discussions to help students understand the topic and focus of the assignments (1 hour per week)
- Provide timely constructive feedback on students’ work to support their growth and improvement
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment conducive to exploration and creativity
- Respond to students’ questions and concerns in a timely manner
- Establish weekly office hours virtually for students to request one-on-one tutoring, answer questions, or discuss concerns (1 to 2 hours per week)
- Prepare a syllabus for the Photography course with Simple Syllabus
- Maintain the Photography Course on eLearn (LMS)
- Keep accurate records and grades in a timely manner
- Participate in assessment activities as instructed
- Other duties as assigned
