All nurse practitioner students must fulfill a minimum of 750 total hours of clinical practice in NURSP 625, NURSP 635, and NURSP 645. Based upon contractual agreements, students will work in a primary care, outpatient setting with a clinical preceptor. Students are to operationalize the outcomes of the concentration courses in a clinical setting to meet population specific patient hour requirements as appropriate for their identified track. The clinical faculty reviews achievement of NURSP 625, NURSP 635, and NURSP 645 clinical competencies weekly and may request a clinical site or preceptor change for the student to meet program requirements. Nurse practitioner students must average 6 to 10 patients per each 8-hour shift at the clinical site.
