Law Leadership Certificate Ceremony
Congratulations on completing your certificate! The Law Enforcement Leadership Ceremony will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, in the Geary Auditorium on the second floor of Riggleman Hall. The ceremony will recognize those students obtaining a Leadership certificate from our Graduate School of Leadership.
The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held in the Rotunda following the ceremony.
The Day of the Ceremony
Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. for guests. There will be volunteers on hand to help you find parking and get to the ceremony. Campus, parking maps, directions for moving about campus, and information about the Charleston area are available on our website using this link: https://www.ucwv.edu/campus-visits/ .
Checking In for the Ceremony
Students must check in at the Rotunda on the second floor of Riggleman Hall between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Signage will be posted to lead you to the check-in area. All students will be assigned a seat upon check-in.
All students must be checked in and seated by 10:40 a.m.
Personal Belongings
Please be sure to leave your personal belongings in a safe place or leave them with your guest(s), family member, or someone you trust. We cannot house personal items at the ceremony.
Notecards
A notecard will be given to you with a ceremony program. You must hold on to this note card during the ceremony!
You will give this card to the Provost when you step on stage so they can call your name as you walk across the stage to be congratulated by the University President. Some cards will have your name written phonetically for the speaker to say it correctly. Please do not make any changes to this card.
Walking Across the Stage
Make sure you bring your note card with you when the Presentation of Certification Recipients begins, and you start to process to the stage with the Grand Marshal. You will hand this card to the Provost so they can call your name from the podium.
You will then walk across the stage, receive congratulations and your certificate cover from the President.
You will then exit the stage and the University Marshal will guide you back to your seat.
Exiting the Auditorium After the Ceremony
All students must leave the arena when the designated Marshal approaches your row. You will exit through the back of the auditorium. Do this quickly after your Marshal has excused your row.
Guests are asked to stay in their seats until the stage party, faculty, and students have exited the auditorium.
Photographs
Professional photographers will be at the ceremony to take each student’s photos. When you check in, you can have your photo taken in the Rotunda before going to the Auditorium. During the ceremony, a photo will be taken of you and President Roth as you receive your certificate. If you don’t get your individual photo taken before the ceremony, the photographer will be set up to take it afterwords in the Rotunda during the reception. Photos will be available from Bruce Heflin Photography.
Weather permitting, we encourage you to take advantage of our beautiful back lawn for personal and family photographs.
Guests and Children Seating
Each graduate can invite as many guests as they like. Children will not be permitted to sit on laps. All children must occupy a seat in the auditorium.
ADA Access and Seating
Signage will be posted to lead guests to this entrance. A person/persons with a disability will have seating available. This section will be marked for easy access.
If your guests need help with seating, please advise them to speak with one of our volunteers working the event.
Virtual Livestream
We will provide a livestream of the ceremony. It will be available on the UC Facebook page, UC YouTube page, or by visiting the UC website on the day of the event.
