UC Gears Up to Welcome New and Returning Students
Charleston, WV – August 15, 2025 – The University of Charleston will soon be buzzing with activity as it welcomes new and returning Golden Eagles moving into their campus homes—marking the start of a year full of possibilities.
New students will move in on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17, while returning students arrive Monday and Tuesday. The university expects over 700 students to be housed on campus.
Adding to the spirit of community, student athletes, upperclassmen and student leaders who arrived earlier will be on hand to greet newcomers and lend a helping hand with boxes, bags, and college essentials—making the transition a little easier for students and parents alike.
The weekend will be more than just unpacking and settling in. New Student Orientation will take place on Saturday and Sunday, introducing students to campus life and academic resources. New students and their parents can enjoy an ice cream social Saturday evening, and a new student block party will take place Sunday evening at 5:00. The university’s annual EagleFest will be held on Tuesday, August 19, beginning at 4:00 on the riverbank lawn.
The first day of classes is Wednesday, August 20.
