Job Summary:
The University of Charleston seeks a full-time Food Service employee to join the Culinary Team; previous cooking experience is required. Must be able to work weekends and nights as needed and shifts will vary.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares recipes for meal periods
- Garnishes and places food items at the appropriate stations
- Ensures and maintains proper sanitation of the kitchen
- Uses proper portioning
- Answers customer questions accurately on menu items
- Assists in restocking and clean-up of the kitchen and serving stations at the end of the service period
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be able to read and follow recipes and follow directions.
- Experienced with general kitchen procedures
- Understands the importance of health department and AVI Fresh food and safety guidelines
- Must be a team player and perform well in meeting deadlines
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as necessary
- Willing to work nights/weekends/overtime as needed
- Must understand the importance of security and confidentiality associated with a university campus
- Excellent attendance
