Charleston, WV – November 18, 2025 – The University of Charleston provides its students with many life-changing opportunities, and the Presidential Scholarship is one of the most significant. The scholarship gives high-achieving students admitted to the university the chance to graduate without tuition debt while gaining access to a network of mentors prepared to help launch their futures.

“We are proud to offer outstanding students the opportunity to pursue their dreams,” stated UC President Marty Roth. “While every student at UC brings something unique to our campus, our Presidential Scholars are truly special. We are looking forward to reviewing the applications and then welcoming them to the Golden Eagle family.”

The Presidential Scholarship is available for the most promising future leaders. In addition to financial support, Presidential Scholars receive leadership training, one-on-one mentoring with UC’s President, and opportunities to influence campus life. The Presidential Scholarship – the university’s highest-level award – covers full tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board for four years. Applications are now open for this outstanding opportunity, with a deadline of January 9, 2026.

“The Presidential Scholarship truly recognizes high achievers,” explained Dr. Beth Wolfe, executive vice president of enrollment management at UC. “In addition to being scholars with strong records of academic success, recipients also demonstrate impressive accomplishments in their pursuits beyond the classroom.”

Admitted students for the Fall 2026 semester with a high school GPA of 3.75 or higher and a demonstrated record of leadership and citizenship are eligible for the scholarship.  Applicants should also have a desire to become a campus leader while serving the UC & Charleston communities.

Up to 15 semi-finalists will be selected for the first-round interview process. Semi-finalists who do not advance to the next round will be offered a semi-finalist scholarship package. Nine finalists will be invited to campus for a final interview event with faculty staff, current Presidential Scholars, and President Roth. Four Presidential Scholars will be chosen from those students.

Only four scholars will be selected. Applications must be received by the university by January 9, 2026. For more information about the scholarship and the application process, please visit the UC website’s Presidential Scholarship page.
