While some schools nationwide are struggling with maintaining enrollment, the University of Charleston is seeing a brighter picture, with an over 20% increase in its new student enrollment for the 2024 spring semester.

Total enrollment of new and returning students from spring to spring has increased by 3% as well.

Enrollment increases came from several programs across all locations (Charleston, Beckley, and online) and all degree levels.

“In what is a very challenging time for higher education across the country, to have even a small increase in enrollment year over year is a victory,” stated Dr. Beth Wolfe, UC Executive Vice President of Enrollment Management. “But to achieve such significant growth is a testament to the quality and value of a University of Charleston education, not to mention the dedicated work of many UC employees, particularly the enrollment management teams.”

The University of Charleston is an independent, co-educational, residential university offering programs through five distinct schools: The School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Leadership, and the School of Pharmacy. In addition to its campus in Charleston, WC offers multiple degrees at its Beckley location and online.
