Education Professor Named One of “40 Under 40”
Sarah Gallagher, Assistant Professor in our Education Department, has been named a member of “Generation Next – 40 Under 40” by the WV State Journal.
Gallagher teaches a variety of education courses, a geography course, and a West Virginia and Appalachian course. Prior to her role at UC, she worked at St. Albans High School for three years and Ripley High School for six.
The State Journal recognizes and honors young professionals throughout West Virginia with its Generation Next 40 Under 40 annual issue. Those named are honored for their contributions to making their communities, as well as West Virginia, a better place to live, raise families, and do business.
According to the State Journal, “These are 40 of the best and brightest individuals under the age of 40 in our state. Each of the winners is a standout in their field of endeavor.”
Gallagher is a graduate of WVU with a Master of Arts in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Interdepartmental Studies, she was selected as the 2013 Outstanding Graduate Student. She recently completed a Post-Masters Certification Program in School Principalship.
She was one of 17 teachers nationwide to participate in the Memorializing the Fallen, World War I Teacher Ambassadors program, and in 2020, she represented West Virginia in the Pasadena Celebrates 2020 Outwalker Program at the Rose Parade.
She is also a certified PADI scuba diver.
