Commencement Spring 2023Over 300 new Golden Eagle alumni will be celebrated when we hold our 2023 Spring Commencement on Saturday, April 29, in two separate ceremonies – undergraduates at 10:00 am and graduate students at 1:00 pm.

Graduates will represent Charleston, Beckley, and online programs as well as our four distinct schools: School of Arts & Sciences, School of Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy, and School of Business & Leadership.

Both ceremonies will take place in the Wehrle Athletic Arena.

Pat Graney, UC Board of Trustees Chairman, and recent recipient of the YMCA’s “Spirit of the Valley” Award will be the commencement speaker for the undergraduate ceremony. Dr. Tom Takubo, partner at Pulmonary Associates of Charleston, current Senate Majority Leader in the WV Legislature, and vice president of provider relations for WVU Health System, will address the graduate ceremony. Both will receive honorary degrees.

Undergraduate Senior of the Year is Sidra Tahir, from Annapolis, Maryland, who will graduate Magna Cum Laude with a degree in biology with a biomedical sciences concentration and a minor in psychology. Graduate Student of the Year is Darius Berry, of Cumberland, Maryland, who is receiving his PharmD.

On Friday, April 28, several UC programs will hold additional ceremonies. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will hold its pinning ceremony that afternoon. UC School of Pharmacy and the UC Physician Assistant Program will both hold hooding ceremonies in the evening. The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science will hold its pinning ceremony as well.
