UC Graduate Inspires Athletic Arena Project
Sam Femia graduated from Morris Harvey College and not only remained a passionate Golden Eagle fan but touched many lives with his great personality.
Sadly, he lost his eight-year battle with cancer last year. To honor his legacy, Sam’s Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity brothers have created the Sam Femia Memorial Project to build a broadcast booth in the Wehrle Arena where Femia spent so much time cheering on his Golden Eagles. The booth will allow UC to live stream any games that take place in the Arena.
In a story aired recently on WOWK-TV, Dave Blashford, one of the organizers of the project, says there is no better way to honor the University’s biggest fan.
“He was always so refreshing to go to a game with because he would spend more time shaking hands, talking, and laughing with people that he knew. He was a breath of fresh air any time we ever went to sporting events together.”
The project has raised nearly $25,000 so far. The goal is to raise $30,000 for the broadcast booth. Any additional funds raised will go to support UC athletics. The link to donate is here:
