Move In Day Gets the Semester Underway
The population of Charleston will increase this weekend when over 700 new and returning students arrive on the University of Charleston campus.
Student athletes, Resident Assistants, and a few other student groups are already on campus and will be on hand to help new residential students and their families move in on Friday, August 19. New students will be welcomed to campus with a Block Party that evening on the riverbank from 6:30 – 9:00 pm.
Returning residential students will move in on Saturday, August 20.
New Student Orientation will take place Friday through Sunday, and a week of activities is planned to welcome all students back to campus. Included in the Week of Welcome will be the university’s traditional EagleFest, which will take place Monday, August 22.
Other activities will include an Organization Fair, Food Truck Friday, Bingo, a banana split celebration, and more
“We are so excited to have our students here,” stated Virginia Moore, UC Vice President and Dean of Students. “We have worked hard over the summer to make sure this weekend goes smoothly, and that our Week of Welcome provides many opportunities for new and returning students to meet friends, have fun, and get ready for a successful semester.”
The first day of classes in both Charleston and Beckley will be Monday, August 22.
