Today the state of West Virginia commemorates Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in. the United States. The University of Charleston joins with our state, our city, and our community to celebrate how far we’ve come, while acknowledging the work left to do. May we continue to be the change.

Juneteenth is celebrated throughout the US on June 19 each year. Governor Jim Justice declared that today would be a state holiday in recognition.
