UC ACBSP Accreditation Approved with No Notes and No Conditions.

“I am truly humbled and appreciative of the outstanding teamwork and dedication of our faculty and staff who contributed to this recognition of the quality of our SBL programs and processes,” stated Dr. Scott Bellamy, Dean, School of Business & Leadership, as he announced that the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners voted to approve the University of Charleston School of Business & Leadership for full accreditation with no notes and no conditions.

“University of Charleston has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said Dr. Steve Parscale, ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer. “This accreditation is evidence that University of Charleston is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”

ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business degrees and programs offered through University of Charleston meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

“We are excited and proud to add ACBSP to our portfolio of specialized accreditations,” said UC President Marty Roth. “Each one signals the outstanding quality of our faculty and programs, as well as dedication to continuous improvement. Earning ACBSP accreditation validates what so many alumni have experienced over the years – that UC delivers exceptional business and leadership programs that help students launch and advance their careers.”

Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support to determine whether the business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.

The ACBSP offers more than 30 years of promoting excellence in global business program accreditation and was the first organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels.

“ACBSP accreditation attests to the quality of our business programs,” said Dr. Kim Spiezio, Provost at UC. “It also highlights our longstanding commitment to excellence in graduate and undergraduate education.”

The university will be presented with formal recognition for accreditation in Washington, D.C. at the ACBSP Annual Conference scheduled from June 17-20, 2022.
