Charleston, WV – October 19, 2021 — Dr. Lindsay Acree, Assistant Professor, Pharmacy Practice Department and Pharmacist-in-Charge, PharmU Patient Care Clinic and the UC School of Pharmacy, was recently awarded an additional $6,000,000 from the WV State Opioid Response Grant, sub-grantee of the WV Department of Health and Human Resources Department of Behavioral Health.

Dr. Acree received original funding of $1,950,000, and the additional grant money brings the total grant to $7,950,000 – the largest grant awarded in the history of the UC School of Pharmacy.

The grant will fund the purchase of almost 95,000 naloxone kits for the state of West Virginia and will be provided to organizations in the areas of prevention, corrections, treatment programs, hospitals, Quick Response Teams, local health departments, and others.
