Outside of the classroom and clinic, Dr. Prickett enjoys cooking, hiking, photography, traveling, gardening, and exploring the outdoors. He especially enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the natural beauty of West Virginia and Appalachia.
Mason Prickett, PT, DPT, PCS, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy. He serves as faculty in the University of Charleston Doctor of Physical Therapy program and continues to practice clinically as a pediatric physical therapist with West Virginia Birth to Three. Dr. Prickett is passionate about preparing future physical therapists to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care across the lifespan while connecting classroom learning to real-world clinical practice.
Dr. Prickett’s clinical and academic interests include pediatric physical therapy, neurological rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, assistive technology, virtual reality (VR), and the integration of emerging technologies into physical therapy education and clinical practice. He has a particular interest in improving access to and the effective use of innovative and individualized technologies, including 3D printing, virtual reality, and customized assistive technology solutions to support participation, independence, and quality of life.
In addition to his work at the University of Charleston, Dr. Prickett has served as an adjunct faculty member in physical therapy and physical therapist assistant education, teaching courses related to pediatrics, neurology, and assistive technology. His teaching philosophy emphasizes connecting foundational concepts to practical clinical decision-making while encouraging students to think critically, creatively, and collaboratively.
Dr. Prickett is also actively involved in professional advocacy and research within the physical therapy profession. He serves in leadership with the West Virginia Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association and is particularly interested in issues affecting pediatric services, workforce development, access to care, and the delivery of physical therapy services in rural communities.
Dr. Prickett is committed to advancing physical therapy education and helping students develop the knowledge, clinical reasoning, adaptability, and confidence necessary to become compassionate, innovative, and lifelong-learning clinicians.
