Dr. Sun Presents to Two Professional Organizations
UC Professor of Chemistry Presents Research to Two Professional Groups
Charleston, WV – April 15, 2021 – Dr. Xiaoping Sun, UC Professor of Chemistry, presented his recent research virtually at the Spring 2021 American Chemical Society National Meeting (ACS Spring 2021) on April 6, 2021.
His presentation, “Investigations of the Photochemical Charge-Transfer Reduction of Uranyl (VI) to Uranyl (V) by Benzene-1,4-Diol (Hydroquinone) and Oxalate by UV-Vis, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), and Fluorescence Spectroscopies,” was based on work collaborated with Dr. Derrick Kolling of Marshall University and funded by the National Science Foundation and the West Virginia Science and Research Instrumentation Grant program.
On March 30, 2021, Dr. Sun gave a similar virtual research presentation as a guest speaker at the Central Ohio Valley Section of American Chemical Society. The title of his presentation was “Studies of Charge-Transfer Reactions of Uranyl (VI) (UO22+) with Functionalized Organic Compounds by UV-Vis, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), and Fluorescence Spectroscopies”.
