UC Student Accepts Rutgers Fellowship

Charleston, WV – University of Charleston School of Pharmacy student pharmacist, Rija Saleem (P4) was accepted into the Rutgers Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program. Fellows from this program are expected to develop their career in Early-Phase Clinical Development programs including preclinical studies through phase 1 and 2 trials of the drug development process. The pharmacists will assume leadership roles in variety of areas including: designing and managing clinical trials, development of study protocol, selecting primary investigator and trial sites, data collection and interpretation, determining the best dose of the medication for later studies, reporting serious adverse events, publishing clinical study reports and manuscripts. They partner with about 20 leading pharma industries of the US and the World for this program.

Saleem is the second student in this program from UCSOP.

Saleem was also the grand champion in the UC Innovation Competition. Saleem’s project “Revival” focuses on the importance of slowing down and doing activities that take time.
