UC Named 7th Fastest Growing Private College
Chronicle of Higher Education Names UC as a ‘Fastest Growing College’
Charleston, WV – December 18, 2019 – Citing its growth rate of 77.5%, the Chronicle of Higher Education Almanac 2019 named the University of Charleston as its 7th Fastest Growing College in the category of Private Nonprofit Doctoral Institutions.
The ranking is based on figures from 2007 to 2017. During that decade, UC went from an enrollment of 1,398 to 2,481. In large part, this growth can be attributed to the increase in the school’s online programs, continuing to offer military students unique educational opportunities, and the addition of new programs – particularly STEM related programs.
According to the study, “Among the fastest growing institutions are ones that have rapidly increased online enrollment, ones that were founded in the past few decades in anticipation of rising demand for higher education in their regions, ones that serve military students and veterans, and ones that have expanded their master’s degree offerings.”
