Charleston, WV – The population of Charleston will increase Friday when over 700 new and returning students arrive on the University of Charleston campus.

Fall sport student athletes are already on campus, and will be on hand Friday, August 23 to help new residential students during Move in Day from 9:00 am through noon. Returning residential students will move in from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

New Student Orientation will take place Friday through Sunday. An Induction Convocation for incoming freshmen will take place in the Geary Auditorium at 5:00 p.m. Friday.

“We are so excited to have our students here,” stated Virginia Moore, UC Dean of Students. “We have worked hard over the summer to make sure this weekend goes smoothly, and that our Week of Welcome provides many opportunities for new and returning students to meet friends, have fun, and get ready for a successful semester.”

Move in day also kicks off the University’s Week of Welcome, and all students are invited to a week of activities, including glow-in-the-dark bingo, ice cream social, orientation for international students and Honors College students, UC Organization Fair, and more

UC’s annual EagleFest, with live music and activities on the riverbank, will take place Monday, August 26, beginning at 4:00 p.m..

The first day of classes on the UC Charleston campus will be Monday, August 26.
