Experience UC Scholarship Days
(For High School Seniors and College Transfers Only!)

February 2, February 16 or February 23

What are Experience UC Scholarship Days?

Experience UC Days are special University of Charleston Scholarship Days/Open House programs held on three Saturdays in February. You are invited to attend ONE of these programs.  You must be accepted to the University of Charleston to participate.  All participating students will receive University scholarship funds through the competition.

Compete for thousands of $$$$ in scholarships…more than $1,000,000 was given away last year!  Students have the opportunity to compete for the scholarships below depending on eligibility and availability.  Experience UC Scholarship Days represent the only opportunities that accepted students can compete for these four outstanding scholarships.   Each student will receive only one award as a result of the competition.  Award amounts depend on on-campus residential status.

The competition is fun, engaging and interesting for both students and parents.   You will participate in some group problem-solving activities, interview with faculty and staff, submit a short writing sample and learn a lot about the University and yourself.

The Presidential Scholarship

The Presidential Scholarship Program at the University of Charleston exists to enhance the experiences of academically high-performing students and the entire campus community. As a Presidential Scholar, you will be a leader on the campus, not only in the classroom but in all aspects of campus life.  You are also able to major in any available academic program.  Additionally, you will have outstanding opportunities to gain the knowledge and leadership skills to achieve success in the real world.   Presidential Scholars receive a premier academic award, and the program is limited to a maximum number of recipients each year.  Presidential Scholarships may not be combined with other University of Charleston scholarships.  Your University aid package may include outside grants and scholarships, and these outside awards may serve to reduce the University’s portion of the total scholarship.  The Presidential Scholarship amounts to an all-combined scholarship equal to tuition and room per year.  Board is not included in the scholarship offering.

The Golden Eagle Scholar Award

Golden Eagle Scholar Awards are awarded to academically high-performing students who excel at Experience UC Scholarship Days.  Golden Eagle Scholar Awards begin at $1,000 and will be added to the current scholarships and awards a student may have already received.  Golden Eagle Scholars are premier award recipients who will be leaders on campus and in the community.   The award is limited to a maximum number of recipients each year.

The Welch Colleague Scholarship

The Welch Colleague Program at the University of Charleston exists to develop students into thoughtful, passionate, and competent leaders.  Students become change agents who integrate personal strengths into their academic, civic, and professional lives. By being a part of the Welch Colleague Program, you will have the opportunity to take specialized classes, attend workshops and build mentoring relationships with community leaders and UC staff and faculty. Success in the Welch Colleague program means you will graduate with a minor in Applied Leadership Studies.  Students learn to think about leadership within the context of their academic discipline and anticipated vocation.   As a Welch Colleague Scholarship recipient, you will be one of approximately 25 new students to receive $14,000 annually.  Welch Colleague Scholarships may not be combined with other University of Charleston scholarships.  Welch Colleague students must live on campus to receive the award and participate in the program.

The Leadership & Involvement Scholarship

Leadership & Involvement scholarships are awarded to students who show promise and potential as leaders on campus, whether directly as executives of campus organizations or indirectly as outstanding participants in numerous student groups and activities.  Students participating in athletics, band, chorus, or other student life programs may be eligible for this award.  Awards begin at $500 per year and vary according to selection factors.  The Leadership & Involvement Scholarship will be added to the current scholarships and awards a student may have already received.
