Charleston, W.Va. – After three years of planning and preparation, the University of Charleston's new Physician Assistant Master's Program kicks off today and tomorrow on the UC-Charleston campus with orientation for its first cohort of 30 students.
The inaugural UC PA class consists of students from 15 states, including Wisconsin, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, California, Texas and Minnesota. Today and tomorrow, students will begin the two-year master's program by learning the various processes and procedures, as well as becoming oriented with common medical equipment and learning helpful study tips.
PA is one of the fastest-growing medical occupations in the United States. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), PA jobs are expected to increase 30% from 2010 to 2018. Full-time PAs make an average of $86,410 per year.
