Charleston, W.Va. - The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy will hold its sixth annual White Coat Ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011, in the ballroom of Geary Student Union. The white coat is a symbol of the health care profession, and each year the UC School of Pharmacy places the coat on new pharmacy students as part of their entry into the profession. Students, faculty, and families will gather to mark this rite of passage.
Elliott Sogol, PhD, RPh, F.A.Ph.A, will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Sogol, co-author of the book The Good Pharmacist, holds appointments as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Florida, University of Minnesota, University of North Carolina, and Campbell University Schools of Pharmacy. He is also one of the researchers and trainers for the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Career Pathway Evaluation Program for Pharmacy Professionals. He currently serves as the group manager – professional services for Target Corporation, where his responsibilities include oversight and direction of clinical pharmacy services, pharmacist and technician clinical educational training and programs, integration of clinical assessment for student pharmacists, and professional development programs.
