Overview of Program
The sports management industry has become an increasingly attractive field for young professionals. Sports equate to big business around the world.
Because sports is a business, the Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration (SPAD) program is housed in the Department of Business and the major consists of two different tracks (options):
- Management
- Communications
At the University of Charleston, the Sports Administration program blends liberal learning, business, and sports administration courses in a curriculum designed to prepare graduates for positions in areas such as college and school athletic programs, professional sports organizations, sports sponsorship and marketing agencies, and multipurpose facilities.
Program Focus
The University of Charleston’s Sports Administration program focuses on two areas:
- Utilizing current technology to expand the learning environment in an experiential way to develop increased awareness of the uses of technology in the sports industry and to apply them.
- Creating assignments that mimic the types of projects students will find when working in the sports industry.
Admission Requirements
Students must gain general admission to the University of Charleston. A visit to campus to meet with Admissions personnel and program faculty is strongly encouraged.
