The General Science certification provides graduates with the skills necessary to teach in a general science classroom for grades 5th through adult. Students take a variety of content specific science courses and a science methods course. This methods course allows students to examine current research on science teaching in the secondary schools and provides a 20-hour field experience to assist in preparation of teaching science. Students should also consider combining General Science with a Biology certification.
