Kendall Vintroux was born July 5, 1896 at Vintroux Landing, now Frazier's Bottom, West Virginia. He dropped out of school to help run the family farm in his teenage years, and filled long winter days, when crops weren't growing, by doodling cartoons. He sent one of them to The Charleston Gazette on a whim, and was hired by that newspaper, starting work February 1, 1922 and remaining with the paper for 46 years, until his retirement in 1968.
Kendall Vintroux died July 27, 1973 at his home in Charleston, West Virginia.
