About Rocco J. Gorman


A well known educator and coach in Charleston, West Virginia for over 60 years, Rocco J. Gorman served on the Board of Trustees of Morris Harvey College (predecessor institution to the University of Charleston) from 1968 to 1971. Mr. Gorman grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, graduating from high school there in 1906. He arrived in Charleston to teach mathematics at Charleston High School sometime during World War I. His career in the Kanawha County School system would include promotion to Principal of Charleston High School and later to the position of Assistant County Superintendent.


Mr. Gorman died in 1971.
