Professional Mentoring and Professional Practice
The local and regional business community plays an integral part in many facets of a successful experiential program. Professional Mentoring pairs you with a mentor for the academic year, to enhance the educational experience, provide tighter bonds between you and the business community, and give you a trusted individual to go to for academic, professional and personal advice and guidance.
Professional Practice provides an experiential classroom in which you will apply and strengthen the skills learned in the problem-based setting. You will be engaged in structured, practice-related activities where your knowledge is coupled with a professional attitude and professional skills training, resulting in your development as an experienced business professional. Experiential learning occurs when carefully chosen experiences are supported by reflection, critical analysis and synthesis. Professional Practice experiences with businesses are structured to require you to take initiative, make decisions, and be accountable for results.

| Professional Practice "Our Professional Practice intern at NGK is working with our team to establish a robust Wellness program for the West Virginia Campus of NGK. This is a critically important issue for NGK, as the rising cost of Health Care has added a significant amount of cost to our operations. This relationship is definitely a "win win" situation. The student benefits from the exposure to a real world problem, as well as the mentoring he is receiving from the NGK team, and NGK benefits from the skills that he brings as a result of his development as a participant in the MBAL program. We are pleased to be a part of this innovative program, and look forward to a continued relationship with the University of Charleston MBAL team."
