The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy seeks applicants for several available positions in the areas of Acute Care and Ambulatory Care. The School of Pharmacy is an instrument of the University of Charleston, designed to prepare pharmacists who will provide comprehensive patient care, advance the profession through research and advocacy, and to serve the community as leaders in rural health care. The School fosters active participation of faculty, staff and students in an agenda of community outreach, advocacy, and activism as one of the hallmarks of the pharmacy program. The University of Charleston’s Pharmacy School offers an integrated curriculum that seeks to develop pharmacy practitioners who are able to effectively communicate with diverse populations and work as an integral member of the healthcare delivery team.
Faculty positions are full-time, non-tenure track (rank and salary are commensurate with skills and experience). The hired faculty members are expected to support the vision and mission of the School of Pharmacy through teaching in the professional pharmacy curriculum, providing pharmacy services to an identified clinical practice site, participating in scholarly activities, being an active member of School of Pharmacy committees, and improving patient health outcomes in the state and region.
Qualified candidates have the Pharm.D. degree, completion of a one or two year pharmacy residency (or equivalent practice experience), and are eligible for licensure in West Virginia (or appropriate state if location of practice site is outside of WV). A high degree of knowledge of standards and current trends in pharmacy practice, particularly in their areas of expertise and previous academic experience is highly desired. Board Certification in the respective area of expertise is preferred, but not a requirement.
The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy boasts several interesting and distinctive assets such as:
- The School of Pharmacy has an onsite, faculty driven medication & disease management clinic with an attached dispensing pharmacy. Faculty members participate in direct patient care activities, community outreach and teaching of pharmacy students in the clinic.
- The School of Pharmacy supports a Pharmacy Practice and Community Care residency program providing experience in the development and justification of clinic practice, and academic training through a teaching certificate program.
