Tau Kappa Epsilon, Theta-Omega Chapter

On May 5, 1902, fifty-three men succeeded in bringing an organization to Morris Harvey College (currently known as the University of Charleston) that would be greater than any other Greek organization at the time, or any that were ever to follow. These men petitioned the National Fraternity of Tau Kappa Epsilon to charter a chapter at the College. Their request was granted, and Theta Omega chapter was established at Morris Harvey College. These fifty-three men were initiated into Tau Kappa Epsilon and the Theta Omega chapter was officially begun. Since that time there have been many Greek organizations to come and go from the campus of UC, but only TKE has withstood the test of time. It is the only Greek fraternity to have been a part of the University's campus and to have prospered for over forty years, and has made the collegiate experience for over five hundred men much more enjoyable.

For more than forty years, the Theta Omega chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon has, been an important part of the University of Charleston's campus, impacting not only the Greek community but the University's community as a whole, performing its part to aid the University in any way possible, and making student life more enjoyable. It has brought life to UC sporting events when the other organizations on campus could not. It has done its part to aid the community through community service, and has held numerous events to benefit the Kanawha County Special Olympics, all the while upholding the original beliefs and objectives of the original Knights of Classic Lore; from which Tau Kappa Epsilon spawned.
