Learning Support Services maintains a Learning Support Office which provides support for students as they work to achieve academic success and meet Liberal Learning Outcomes.

Make-up Testing:

      From time to time a student will miss class and a scheduled test because of participation on a sports team, illness, or some other unforeseen circumstance. In these cases faculty may arrange for the student to take a "make-up" test at the Learning Support Office. Rules and a schedule are below.

Make-up Testing Rules

  • All testing by appointment only.
  • Be at the Learning Support Office 5 minutes before test time.
  • Student must present a photo ID.
  • The time allowed to complete a test will be determined by instructor but must be completed during designated testing hours.
  • If student leaves room after testing begins for any reason the test will be collected and returned to Instructor.
  • Only study aids (calculators, open book, etc.) designated by instructor or supplied by LSS will be allowed.
  • Please do NOT bring children to the test site. We will not watch them and they will not be allowed in the test room. Make other arrangements for their care.
  • No talking during or after testing.
  • No food or drinks in the test room.


      The Make-up test schedule varies by semester. Testing hours are posted at the Learning Support Office, RH 129, or can be obtained by calling the office at 357-4931.


Clep Testing

      Learning Support Services at the University of Charleston is an Open CLEP Testing Center. CLEP tests allow students to demonstrate prior learning and earn college credit. Tests are administered on Monday and Friday mornings from 9-11. CLEP tests are administered via computer.

      There is a $60.00 fee levied by the College Board for each CLEP test. The College Board encourages test takers to pay this fee online via credit card at the time of the test. In addition, persons who are not full-time students at the University of Charleston must pay a fee of $15.00. Make checks payable to the University of Charleston.
