5 Reasons to go Theta!
- Theta Kappa Pi is about finding new friends and
discovering sisterhood that lasts a lifetime.
With our constant alumni involvement, ΘΚΠ goes to show that sisterhood
and friendship aren’t for college days alone.
- Women in Theta Kappa Pi strive to exceed the
expectations of others through all that they do for their chapters,
universities, and communities. Whether
it’s through their efforts in academics, philanthropy, service, leadership
development or their involvement in other campus organizations, women in ΘΚΠ
are all about bringing change for the better.
- Theta Kappa Pi has been named the Best Greek
Organization on campus for the past 4 years and has plans to continue winning
this prestigious award.
- Theta Kappa Pi is currently the oldest greek
organization on campus. These girls make their alumni proud by remaining the
group with the highest G.P. A. and most
community service hours each year.
- Last but not least Theta is about pride, pride
in our letters, pride in what we do, and having pride in ourselves.
On October 23, 1987, the sorority of Theta Kappa Pi was
founded at the University of Charleston. The founding class began with only
nine sisters, but has grown steadily since its inception. In 1988, Theta Kappa
Pi of UC merged with the Theta Kappa Pi chapter at Penn State University to
form a regional sorority. In spring of 2002, these two chapters merged with a
newly founded chapter at Lewis University. A strong bond exists between the
three chapters, maintained through visits and regular correspondence.
Our sisters are
involved on the UC campus through other ways as well, including serving as
Resident Assistants, Peer Educators, and being members of UC athletic teams.
Furthermore, many sisters are service leaders in the Charleston community. In
addition to community service, the sisters of Theta Kappa Pi plan socials and
formal events every year. We know how to get down to business while having fun.
We have adopted the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation as our philanthropy
and consistently work with the organization in preparation for their annual
March for Babies each spring. Thetas participate in various community service projects
and often work with local organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, the
local animal shelter, Unicef, Salvation Army, Sojourners, Alzheimer’s
Foundation and many more.
The motto of Theta Kappa Pi is the belief in
friendship, service, and integrity. It is represented in our colors of white,
green, and blue and by the lion, our mascot. We are looking for determined,
dedicated, fun, loving, young women to continue our tradition.
