On October 23, 1987, the sorority of Theta Kappa Pi was founded at the University of Charleston. The founding class began with only nine sisters, but has grown steadily since its inception. In 1988, Theta Kappa Pi of UC merged with the Theta Kappa Pi chapter at Penn State University to form a regional sorority. In spring of 2002, these two chapters merged with a newly founded chapter at Lewis University. A strong bond exists between the three chapters, maintained through visits and regular correspondence.
Involvement
We have adopted the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation as our philanthropy and participate in various community service projects such as Ronald McDonald House, Unicef, Salvation Army, and many more. Our sisters are involved on the UC campus through other ways as well, including serving as Resident Assistants, being members of UC athletic teams. Furthermore, many sisters are service leaders in the Charleston community. In addition to community service, the sisters of Theta Kappa Pi plan socials and formal events every year. We know how to get down to business while having fun.
Motto
The motto of Theta Kappa Pi is the belief in friendship, service, and integrity. It is represented in our colors of white, green, and blue and by the lion, our mascot. We are looking for determined, dedicated, fun, loving, young women to continue our tradition.
