Occasionally you will get a document from someone who has Microsoft Works on their computer, instead of Microsoft Office. You would think that you could automatically open any Microsoft document with Microsoft Office, but that is not the case, as some of you have found out.
Before you contact that person and tell him to save the doc as an .rtf file and resend, download a Microsoft Word Viewer.
After the Viewer file is downloaded, click on it and then select Run. The file will install.
Now try opening that attachment containing the Works file. (You may have to select the program with which to open it. Select Word.)
Microsoft Office Word will open and then the .wps document will open. Click the button Enable Editing. You can edit or save it as a different format.
