4/17/2014 - Abraham Lincoln Presenter John Mansfield to Serve as University of Charleston Commencement Speaker
Charleston, W.Va. – What would Abraham Lincoln say to the graduates of 2014 – 150 years after his presidency? To help celebrate the bright futures of 280 new graduates, the University of Charleston will call on the wisdom of the 16th President of the United States of America. Famed Abraham Lincoln educational presenter John Mansfield will address UC graduates at Spring Commencement on Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. on the school’s Riverfront Lawn in Charleston, W.Va.

12/6/2013 - Largest University of Charleston December Commencement on Record
Charleston, W.Va. – The University of Charleston’s largest December Commencement on record will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, in Riggleman Hall’s Geary Auditorium, as 106 graduates are slated to walk across the stage.

Charleston, W.Va.   - The University of Charleston Enactus team will host the fourth annual High School Business Ethics Case Competition in Geary Student Union on Thursday, October 17 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

7/24/2013 - University of Charleston Receives Major Gift for Sports & Fitness Center
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The University of Charleston today announced a gift of approximately $1.25 million from H.B. (Bernie) Wehrle, III and his wife Cecilia toward the school’s Sports & Fitness Center campaign. Combined with a gift of $250,000 from the H.B. Wehrle Foundation and Wehrle family members, the total contribution was over $1.5 million.

Charleston, W.Va. – The United Methodist Church presented University of Charleston President Ed Welch with the Francis Asbury Award on Saturday, June 8, at its West Virginia Annual Conference on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

6/11/2013 - University of Charleston Hires Danny Meadows to Lead International Programs
Charleston, W.Va.  –  The University of Charleston has hired Danny Meadows as its new director of international programs. He will begin his duties immediately. 

9/3/2012 - Scott Bellamy Appointed Dean of the University of Charleston School of Business
Charleston, W.VA.  – The University of Charleston has appointed Dr. Scott Bellamy as Dean of the School of Business.  He succeeds Dr. Charles Stebbins, who retired in May.

3/29/2012 - University of Charleston Announces New Graduate Program for National Guard
Charleston, W.Va. – The University of Charleston (UC) has announced the most recent addition to its graduate business offerings.  Beginning in August, 2012, UC will offer an executive master of business administration program (EMBA) exclusively for members of the West Virginia National Guard.  

11/30/2011 - Dr. Robert Rufus Selected as Judge for the Second Annual AICPA Case Competition
Charleston, W.Va.  – University of Charleston Executive Master of Forensic Accounting (EMFA) program director Dr. Robert J. Rufus has been chosen by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to help select the winner of the 2011 Accounting Competition.

Charleston, W.Va. – University of Charleston School of Business Dean Charles Stebbins today announced the launch of a new venture: the Executive Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management (EMBA-PHM), which will begin classes in January 2012.

The University of Charleston today announced the hiring of Dr. Tom Carlson as a professor for graduate programs in the UC School of Business.

4/29/2011 - Nearly a quarter of UC graduates finish in 3 years
This weekend, the University of Charleston holds its spring commencement ceremony. Graduates will don caps and gowns, process down the aisle and receive their diplomas. This year, nearly a quarter of the students in the graduating class have finished their college education in less than four years.

12/8/2010 - Fraud Case Study Conducted by University of Charleston Graduate School of Business Accepted for Publication
Charleston, WV – Issues in Accounting Education has accepted for publication in its February 2011 issue a fraud case study developed by professors Robert J. Rufus, a forensic CPA and Director of Programs for the University of Charleston’s Executive Master of Forensic Accounting (EMFA) program and William Hahn, an accounting professor at Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL.
