Application Coordinator

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Admissions Operations, the Application Coordinator has the responsibility of reviewing assigned applicant records for General Admission to the University.  Assignments may include working with domestic or international prospective students for Online or In-Seat programs. Application management and decision-making are an integral part of the position. Some hours outside of the standard workday (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) including weekends are required.

Specific Duties:

  • Be knowledgeable about the University of Charleston’s programs, features, facilities, scholarships, admission requirements, and financial aid opportunities. Be able to articulate same in a professional, consistent manner;
  • Work with supervisor to understand territorial and programmatic recruitment goals and monitor admissions decisions with respect to these goals;
  • Hit processing targets weekly, monthly, and annually;
  • Create and maintain physical and digital student files;
  • Conduct daily file audits for applicants;
  • Manage application review and associated decision-making;
  • Coordinate with Admission Counselors to relay application decisions within 1-3 business days;
  • Interface with University personnel (ie: faculty, deans, support and administrative staff) as required;
  • Demonstrate strong customer service orientation;
  • Be proficient in the use of the University’s management information systems (Recruit and Colleague) and Microsoft Office applications to manage digital student records;
  • Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned.

 

Skills Required:
The selected candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong computer and organizational skills, and must be able to think, plan, and execute strategically. Candidate must have a customer service orientation and utilize relationship building techniques. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a team player who demonstrates flexibility and the willingness to “pitch in” when needed.

Qualifications:
This is an entry-level position that requires a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in education or data processing is preferred. Candidate must be a goal-oriented self-starter who has the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
