Person(s) most admired: My parents, they are amazing!
During the summer I worked on: strength, the mental aspect of the game, and leadership skills.
One word that describes me: Passionate
Significance of my jersey number: when I was a youngster my t-ball coach gave me special #7 and it became my favorite number. However, #7 is not a legal jersey number for basketball so I choose #25 because 2 + 5 = 7!
Major: Athletic Administration
Career goal: I plan on coaching but other than that I’m not making plans. I am preparing myself for any and all opportunities that await me.
If I could have any job, I’d be: A basketball or softball coach
Most memorable basketball moment: The plane trip home from the Elite Eight. We laughed a lot, had an awesome flight attendant and went home with tons of pretzels.
Person(s) who inspired me the most: The late Coach Hietanen is very inspirational to me. He lived his life to its fullest and left many people with great life lessons. He was a very compassionate man. Peter Parker/Spider-man is another inspiration to me. I know it sounds childish but it isn’t. If you would like to learn more about why just ask me, it’s a long story.
Newspaper headline for the Golden Eagles: UC: They are who they say they are!
Coach’s Comments:
“There are many components of a successful team that cannot be overlooked: leadership, humor, compassion, ability to communicate, and being a positive role model. Rachel possesses each of these. She can create laughter with her witty one-liners, sit down for a heart-to-heart with teammates, or bring up tough issues with the coaches. While she can hoop it with the best of the best, her intangible skills are untouchable and skills that the team has come to depend on.”
