UC Falls to No. 2 in East Region Poll
February 23, 2006
The No. 6 nationally ranked University of Charleston women's basketball team fell to the No. 2 spot in the latest NCAA East Region Poll released by the NCAA early last night. The Golden Eagles had held on to the No.1 spot since defeating Glenville State on the road January 26. UC finished regular season play on Feb. 20 with a 25-2 overall mark and 16-1 record in conference play.
WVIAC foe Glenville State moved into the No.1 position. Four WVIAC schools (Charleston, Glenville State, Wheeling Jesuit, and West Liberty State) appear destined to make the cut for the NCAA East Region Tournament. Fairmont State, who made last year's field of 64, is still in contention as they hold down the No.10 spot.
