UC Women Debut at No. 2 in First Regional Poll
January 20, 2006

The University of Charleston women's basketball team debut at the No. 2 spot in the first NCAA Regional Poll released by the NCAA on January 18.  The defending NCAA East Region Champions are currently 15-1 on the season and have an 11-1 in-region record.  UC's lone in-region setback was a 49-54 home loss to Indiana (PA) on January 3, which snapped a 28-game home win streak at Eddie King Gym.

Glenville State currently holds down the No. 1 position in the NCAA East Region Poll and in the WVIAC standings.  Both the Pioneers and the Golden Eagles sport unblemished conference records, setting up one of the most highly anticipated WVIAC matchups of the year on January 26 in Glenville.   The No. 6 nationally ranked Pioneers are currently 14-0 on the season, 5-0 in the WVIAC, and 9-0 in-region.

The UC Alumni Office is currently sponsoring a bus trip to watch this potential top 10 matchup.  The cost is $15, which includes tickets to both the men's and women's games.  The bus will leave Eddie King Gym at 3:00 p.m. on January 26.  For more information regarding the bus trip or to RSVP, call Bethany Meighen at (304) 357-4797.  You must RSVP by January 25.
