UC Women Climb to No. 6 in National Poll
January 31, 2005

Following a 2-0 week, the University of Charleston women's basketball team climbed one spot in the national rankings to No. 6, according to the latest USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released earlier today.

Charleston (19-1) downed previously No. 6 ranked Glenville State 85-77 on January 26 in Glenville to grab the top spot in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and remain the lone unbeaten team in conference play.  Charleston handed the Pioneers only their second home loss in 78 games, a span of more than six years, as well their first loss on the season.  Glenville State dropped to No. 7.

The Golden Eagles extended their conference mark to 11-0 last night, defeating the visiting West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats 81-59.

WVIAC rival Fairmont State dropped out of this week's poll.

The NCAA East Region Poll will be released tomorrow.  Charleston and Glenville were 1-2 in last week's poll with the first place nod going to the Pioneers.
