Lee Earns WVIAC Player of the Week Award
January 3, 2006
The University of Charleston's Lisa Lee (Sr., F, 6-0, Charleston, WV) has been named the WVIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the holiday period of December 19-January 2. This is the second time this season Lee has earned the award. It is also the first time this season Charleston has had back-to-back WVIAC Player of the Week winners. Rachel Pike (Jr., F) won the first WVIAC Player of the Week award of her career the previous week.
Lee played a key role in nationally ranked UC's two victories this past weekend in the Red Roof Classic III by averaging a double-double. The former Capital High School standout averaged 22.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg in victories over Winston-Salem State and Shippensburg. Lee helped the Golden Eagles remain unbeaten as she made 60-percent of her field goals (18-30) and 75-percent of her free throws (9-12). On December 31 against Shippensburg, Lee fired in a game-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Against Winston-Salem State on December 30, Lee managed her second double-double performance of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Lee won the WVIAC Player of the Week award five times last season on her path to several postseason awards including All-WVIAC First Team, All-East Region First Team, and Daktronics Honorable Mention All-American. Lee also was named the NCAA East Region Tournamnent MVP.
