The University of Charleston's unbeaten women's basketball team knew it was in for a battle when visiting Indiana (Pa.) scored the first nine points of their game at Eddie King Gym.

The Eagles, ranked fifth in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II Poll, rallied to tie the game at 25 and eventually took a nine-point lead with 9:45 remaining.

The lead wouldn't last, however, as the Indians fought back and shocked UC for a 54-49 victory in front of a sparse crowd of only 69 on Tuesday.

After the Eagles (10-1) took the lead in the second half, the Indians went on a 12-2 run to claim the lead at 46-45 with 5:31 remaining in the game on a lay-up by Lauren Fisher.

Things got worse for UC. With the score the same with 3:14 remaining, former Capital graduate Lisa Lee picked up her fourth foul and consequent fifth foul on a technical foul, thus ending her night.

The Indians made two of the four foul shots and were able to hold off UC.

"With Lisa being a senior and all, she knows better and getting that technical foul was silly," said UC Coach Sherry Winn. "However, nothing we did tonight was better than them. They kicked our butts in all aspects."

"Lee picking up that fifth foul was big," Indiana Coach Cindy Martin said. "Our girls were excited to see her leave but we had momentum and this win is great for our morale and is a huge win for us."

Lee led the Eagles with 14 points and nine rebounds but second leading scorer Courtney Thomas, coming back for her first game after missing the last two, was held scoreless on 0-of-9 shooting.
